Paintless Dent Repair
Most minor dents can be repaired using paintless dent repair (PDR) by the dent repair experts at Dented. If you have a minor dent that is not too complex and we can access the area behind it, we can often massage it out. The beauty of PDR is that we do not need to add a body filler, repaint or disturb your vehicle’s factory paint. This process is also far less time-consuming than the traditional dent repair process. The paintless dent repair process is a great way to restore your vehicle’s body panels at a fraction of the cost of a traditional dent repair.
However, because some dents are more complex and severe, they can cause additional side effects, such as heavy scratching and paint cracking. When a dent occurs, the paint of your vehicle is stretched. If it is stretched beyond the paint’s elastic limit, it will crack. In this case, the dent will need to be repaired with the traditional dent repair process. The traditional dent repair process involves removing the vehicle’s paint, using body filler, and then prepping, priming, and repainting the affected area. This is a costly process and can take a long time to repair.
How long does the Paintless Dent Repair process take?
The paintless dent repair process is quicker than traditional dent repair. The dent repair experts at Dented can often repair your dents in a few hours or on the same day. The PDR process takes skill but is a quicker process than traditional dent repair, as your vehicle’s factory paint is not disturbed.
How long does the Traditional Dent Repair process take?
The traditional dent repair process is very time-consuming and expensive. The process is as follows:
- The existing paint must be sanded off.
- The dent must be pulled or body filler applied.
- If body filler is applied, it needs to be sanded to be smooth and flush with the body lines.
- The surface needs to be prepped.
- Paint primer is applied to the panel.
- Once the primer has dried, the panel can be painted. This could require multiple coats.
- Once the paint has set and cured, the clear coat can be applied.
As you can see, the traditional paint repair process requires several steps and expensive materials. This is time-consuming and expensive compared to PDR.
| Dent type: | Paintless Dent Repair Time: | Traditional Dent Repair Time: |
| Door Dings | A Day. | 3-5 Days. |
| Hail Damage | 1-2 Days. | 1-2 Weeks. |
| Minor Dents | 2-3 Hours to a Day. | 3-5 Days. |
What kind of dents can Dented repair?
Dented can repair most minor dents, depending on the dent’s characteristics. Generally speaking, dents that are smaller than a dinner plate can be repaired as long as they are not too deep. If the dent is creased, the metal is twisted, or the paint has been deeply scratched or cracked, the dent may not be repairable with paintless dent repair. We also need to be able to access the area behind the dent to repair it. That being said, some areas cannot be repaired with PDR. Regardless, the Dented dent repair experts are happy to assess the dent and determine if they can repair it.
Some of the dents we can repair include:
- Car paint chip repair
- Minor dents
- Hail damage
- Door dings
- Dents from motor vehicle accidents
- Dents from environmental damage
- Dents from shopping carts
- Dents from automatic Car Washes

What type of vehicles can Dented Repair?
Almost every vehicle with alloy or aluminum body panels can be repaired with the PDR process by the dent repair experts at Dented. Given that most alloys and aluminum are pliable, have some flexibility, and can be returned to their original shape, they can be repaired using paintless dent repair by massaging out the dents. Materials that cannot be repaired using paintless dent repair include fibreglass and carbon fibre panels. These panels are unlikely to dent but are more prone to cracking or shattering because they lack the elasticity and flexibility of aluminum and alloy panels. These composite panels can sometimes be repaired with traditional auto body repair techniques, but generally need to be replaced.
What is the process of Paintless Dent Repair?
Have you ever encountered a small dent on your car that drives you crazy? Thankfully, there’s a fantastic solution called paintless dent repair (PDR). The process is pretty neat and can save you both time and money. So, how does this magic happen? Well, it all starts with our technician assessing the dent size and location. They’ll then use specialized tools to gently push the dent from behind the panel, carefully massaging it back into shape. It’s quite the art—one that requires skill and a keen eye for detail. A sound technician will also consider the panel’s structure and the vehicle’s material to ensure the repair is done correctly. Plus, PDR can usually be completed in just a couple of hours, which is a huge relief compared to traditional repair methods that may involve painting and extensive waiting time. All in all, paintless dent repair is a fantastic option for keeping your vehicle in tip-top shape without the hassle!
